Turning Back the Hands of Time

Today we were reminded of how things of this world fall away. Even something as great and powerful as the Roman Empire and its impressive structures aren't fully in tact. We spent the greater part of the day exploring the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and other impressively-built churches and buildings. As cool as it was to see these places and know that this is where the Roman powerhouses once stood, we're grateful for the reminder that those great and powerful people and places were nothing without Christ.

We had such a beautiful day today! We both are enjoying getting some sun and spending hours traipsing through the streets of Rome. It's a beautiful city so full of history and culture. It is weird, though, to hear so many different languages while walking down the street. We are so used to tuning out Korean and almost not even hearing it, that we're a bit on sensory overload hearing English, Spanish, Italian, among many other languages. I felt a little bit "at home" yesterday when I saw two Korean ladies at the Colosseum.

We went several places today...

1 John 2:15-17  Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world - the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes, and pride in possessions - is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
