Global Gathering Take 2

You may remember reading about the Global Gathering back in October. They decided to move the festival to May, so this year we got to go twice!! We helped out at our church booth for a while making Worldless Bracelets and talking to people from all over the world, and then spent a lot of the day walking around, eating some really tasty food from all over the world, and just being with friends. We had Kabobs from Nepal, ice cream from Turkey, fried chicken and curry from Bangladesh, crepes from France, American chips, and Mountain Dew! (YES!!!)

I saw Stella (K-4 at BFS) several times. We actually saw a lot of our students - it's always fun to run into them outside of school.

Redeemer ICC booth, with 10 flags from all of the different cultures represented in our church! Pretty cool!

Blessed beyond words by these beautiful ladies.

4 Year Old Love

I know I'm biased, but I really do have the cutest kids!

One of our secretaries has been taking pictures of those of us who are teaching Summer School. She sent me these two from this week, and I just had to share them.

Helping Jade glue. I love how happy she looks, especially because she rarely smiles when she knows her picture is getting taken. Miss Lee showed me this right after she took it. Jade saw it and then hid under the tables until Miss Lee left because she didn't want to get her picture taken any more.

Jade ignoring the camera - typical. I love these three.

Spirit Week

This week was Spirit Week, and we had fun dressing up each day with our kids. We ended with International Day on Friday, and Justin's class did France. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking for this post!

My class didn't do International Day like the rest of the Elementary classes. We just finished our unit on Castles and Knights, so we displayed all of our projects out in the school lobby this week. Below are the pictures of what we made!

Our whole display! We were so proud of our kids and their hard work on all of these projects!

Petting Zoo Field Trip

I bet none of you have ever been to a Petting Zoo in a department store. I can now say that I have. My class went on a field trip last week to a Petting Zoo on the top floor of a nearby department store, complete with a pony-riding area on the connecting rooftop.

In the morning I asked my kiddos what we were doing that day and if they were excited. I took a video of each one of them, and you can see them below, along with some pictures from the day.

Maria "inside" with the chipmunks

Austin and Byeong-Soo LOVED the Sand Fish

Timothy holding "Peanut" (We have a part-time class pet hamster named "Peanut," so naturally the kids call all hamsters "Peanut")

Amber and Timothy had their hamsters kiss

Austin finally caught a Sand Fish

Jade loved holding all of the "Peanuts" and she's almost even smiling!

Jade NEVER smiles for pictures, so it must have been a good day for her because she even waited for me to have my camera ready to take this picture.

Samgwangsa Temple

We are coming up on Buddha's Birthday, and we read that one of the temples in the city has one of the best displays of lanterns in Korea. You can read about it here.

So on Friday night we headed to the temple because we thought it looked pretty cool. Unfortunately, we walked out of the house without our camera, so we only got pictures on our phones. Had we known what we were about to see, I probably would have gone back to get it. It was seriously an incredible sight. There must have been nearly 10,000 lanterns. The entire temple grounds are covered in lanterns - we didn't even see them all!
