Winter Update

Winter weather is settling in, and we finally turned our heat on for the first time on November 21st. It is still not as cold as it is in the Midwest, but somehow that doesn't make much of a difference - I still get cold.

The past few weeks have been pretty "normal." We have been busy with school and survived our first round of Parent-Teacher Conferences. Our students keep us on our toes and provide many fun stories for us to tell. There are a lot of exciting things coming up in the 3 weeks before Winter Break.

Thanksgiving will be a full but exciting weekend with several festive meals and a lot of quality time spent with friends. Thursday we do have school, but we will be having a "typical" Thanksgiving meal for lunch. We will also celebrate Thursday night with our Community Group by having Korean BBQ for dinner. We have the day off on Friday and will be spending the day eating and playing games with our friends Erik and Breckan, and Saturday we're getting together with some other friends from church. On Sunday our church holds a big feast after the service as well. WHOA. That's a lot of good food to look forward to.

After Thanksgiving we have just 2 weeks of school before break, which means that Hawaii is only about 3 weeks away!! To say we're excited is an understatement.

Tonight we are headed out to go bowling with some friends for Justin's birthday!

You can be praying that we will remain motivated in our classrooms these last few weeks before break and that we will focus on the real reason to have to celebrate! God is so good!

Fight On, Fight On, BFS!

Friday was our final SKAC (South Korean Athletic Conference) basketball tournament, and our school hosted it. I was so thankful to not have to travel for this one. We had 7 teams at our school all day, and while we didn't win the whole thing, it was a ton of fun and our team did an outstanding job. We finished 6-2 over the whole season and got to know our team a lot better.

Leading up to Friday we had Spirit Week all week. From pajama day to twin day and crazy hair day, we had a blast dressing up and getting our students excited for the tournament.

A Spooktacular Day

We celebrated Halloween at school on Thursday and loved seeing all of our kids dressed up. We had everything from princesses to Iron Man to vampires. Justin even won the Elementary Teacher's Costume Contest!

Here is my favorite conversation from the day:

Tiana: I'm not Tiana today, I'm Snow White.
Me: Okay, I'll call you Snow White today!
Tiana: Snow White eat apple and sleep.
Me: How does she wake up?
Tiana: Prince Charming comes and kisses her.
Me: Who is Prince Charming?
Tiana: (looking at me like she doesn't want to say...)......Timothy!

All this from a girl who didn't speak English 2 months ago.
